The 吧 at the end softens the suggestion — it makes it feel like friendly advice rather than an order. You can use it for yourself too: 算了，我还是在家看电视吧 (Forget it, I will just stay home and watch TV).

This pattern is perfect for gently redirecting plans: 太远了，我们还是打车吧.
